A Lunar Event at Magnolia Supply

A blue moon and a fun event/sale at Magnolia Supply was the way to close out July in St. Augustine. With free cocktails, a braid bar by Philosophie Salon, live music, and some serious sales, Magnolia Supply was the place to be last night. Bri and Tara, the adorable owners of the shop, threw a rockin' event, and I'm glad I attended.

Mandy and Brittney from Philosophie Salon were tying up braids left and right. I was happy to see so many familiar faces and spent some time chatting with Sarah, Blogger at Vegan on the Run and Editor for St. Augustine Social. We both had braids put in by the lovely Mandy, but I'm sad to say mine didn't get much visibility as dinner was a Chipolte sofritas bowl on the couch. :/

Aslyn and the Naysayers performed as guests milled around with Blue Moon beers in hand. There were stones scattered throughout the shop building on the energy from the full moon. I found a sweet pair of druzy earrings that look like peacock ore. Stay tuned for those in a future post.

There are over 70 models total, and 15 or so different groups. Each group has it's own theme and uses only recycled items. You will never look at garbage the same way again after seeing the art these designers come up with! Proceeds will go to "Home Again St. Johns,"a non-profit organization that helps the homeless in our community.

Our group, Electric Metal, was designed by the talented Michelle Dorminey. The two used cords, computer wires, computer mice, soda pop tops, electrical wires, and can lids to make the looks that will be modeled on me and the four other models in our group.

Fashion Friday: Aero Rocks Fashion

Aeropostale has revamped their style for Fall 2013 and the preview looks awesome! Lots of denim, lace, polka dots, stripes and some edgy faux leather and studs.

They appear to be marketing to the same group of individuals they marketed to in the early 2000's, you and me! Of course those individuals are no longer teens looking to rock tee shirts with huge logos across the front, we have a more mature fashion sense since 10 years ago and Aeropostale appears to be growing up too. A major plus with the change, their prices don't seem very affected!

When one of their reps contacted me to be an Aeropostale VIP and tell me about the changes, naturally I was all in and couldn't wait to see their fall collection! Their adorable welcome box came in the mail yesterday with my VIP card and invites to their launch party. They included a super cute hot pink wristlet too. With enough space for the essentials, this will be the perfect accessory to a Friday night outfit.

Stay tuned for a collaboration with Aeropostale in the near future.

What do you think, will you check out Aeropostale's new look?

Sunset Moonrise Tour at the Saint Augustine Lighthouse

Last night Dee and I went out to the Sunset Moonrise Tour at the Saint Augustine Lighthouse for a friend's surprise birthday party. I had been up the lighthouse before, but never for any of their late night events. We were given a champagne toast, provided by San Sebastian Winery, and hors d'oeuvres from the Reef Restaurant. The Reef provided wraps and fruit, they even had a veggie wrap which of course made me extra happy. The tickets were only $25 each and well worth it even with a cloudy sunset.
Beautiful view from the top after climbing 219 steps!
The full harvest moon coming up.

That's a long way down!

The volunteers and employees who ran this event were incredibly pleasant. I will definitely be looking into the Dark of the Moon tour, especially with Halloween coming up. A ghost tour up a creepy lighthouse sounds awesome! :)

Zippin' the Sunday Away at Forever Florida

Over 12 hours since I woke up, I’m sitting home on the couch with my dogs, my love and sore palms/fingers. We went zip lining today at Forever Florida’s Eco Safari for Dee’s Birthday. It was an early morning being Saint Cloud is 3 hours from St. Augustine, we had to get out the door by 6 AM to be there in time. After stopping for gas and some yummy Panera we were on the way, cinnamon crunch bagel and caramel latte in hand.
I hadn’t been in so long and I forgot how good this place was!
Once we got there and were all geared up in our harnesses it was time to climb 8 stories of steps and begin the adventure.

The first zip was nerve racking, being the safety freak I am,I constantly was checking if my harness was tight enough. I then continued to check it to see if it was getting looser as the day went on. It wasn’t, it was fine and so was I. With shaky knees I stepped up onto the step and was assisted by one of our 2 “zip crew” guys to hook me on to the steel cables. A few calls were yelled across to the other side and I was told to sit down, hold on and shut up. No, not really but that would’ve been funny. You do “sit down” though and hold on to the two cords that connect you to the cable, then you are pushed off the edge and soar through the air. Of course on the first zip, of 6 in that particular course, I didn’t make it all the way across so the other zip crew guy had to come out and “save me.” Dee didn’tmake it either, of course we were the only ones in our group of 6 that this happened to. The rest of the zips on this course had a little more of an incline and we were able to make it all the way though.
Not.letting.go.
Typical surfer bro move! J/k he knows I love him. ;)
After finishing up the first section we rode on their zip line roller coaster which is the only one in the United States and the second in the whole world! Basically, it was awesome. The drops were a little weird because you had a free fall feeling for a few seconds, and then it yanked your whole body when you leveled out again.

Next was the superman, a race against the person next to you to travel 200 feet the fastest.  Dee won, as a matter of fact all of the guys one, apparently it was weight related...yup definitely weight related. ;)
At this point it was around 12:30 and we were put on a hold because the wind was picking up to 20 mph gusts. Not so good for soaring through the air on cables.  So we headed back on this vehicle, truck, thing to get some lunch.

Dee had a grass fed Angus burger while I chowed down on a veggie burger. Sadly the weather did not cooperate and we were given rain checks to come back another time. We missed a few of the experiences, the panther pounce and a cycling zip line, both of which we will get to try next time.
I think Dee was sad it was over.
Cheese!
Dee making friends with the "employees."
If you are ever in Orlando and looking for something to do other then the typical amusement parks, I highly recommend you check out Forever Florida and the many things they have to offer. They've got a lot more then just zip lining.  You can go horse back riding, overnight camping, there is a ropes course, a paintball area, nature tours and more. We saw a family of 4 deer, a bunch of cattle, rescued horses, a llama, peacocks, alligators and there were even hogs we didn't get to see.

We had a great time and can't wait to go back and use our rain checks! Thank you Forever Florida for offering this unique experience.

Fashion's Night Out - Jacksonville

Here's some quick pictures from Fashion's Night Out at the St. Johns Town Center.
The fashion show was great despite the humidity and heat, the models all still looked fab in their fall looks.
The St. Johns Town Center did a great job producing this event and bringing it to the masses, thanks for bringing FNO to Jacksonville! Also a big thank you to Brumos Mercedes of Orange Park for their sponsorship to help make this event happen, and PRI Productions, the hired producers for the event.
Dignity U Wear, an organization out of Jacksonville that helps to clothe children and veterans, was the benefiting charity for this event. One of their programs, Suits for Soldiers helps to provide returning soldiers with a Brooks Brothers suit paired with shirts, ties, even their undergarments from Maidenform to get these men and women dressed professionally to return to the workforce.
The director of the show, Charlene was awesome, so high energy and she had the cutest off the shoulder dress paired with some glittery pumps to match her glittery podium. Models strutted the catwalk in Bakers, Bebe, Gap, Soma Intimates and locally owned Original Piece to name a few.
Lindsey looked great in her lace skirt, navy peplum top, navy pumps and a coral pop with her Kate Spade bag.
Over Intermission we ran down to Michael Kors and they sucked us in with complimentary champagne. I ended up buying a new ring that looks like this one and Lindsey, my partner in crime for the night, picked up  a pair of skinny jeans with zippers down the calves from their fall line.
Rockin' my MK purse, watch and bracelet in the MK store. :)
Did you make it out tonight or score anything big on the Fashion's Night In sales that were going on?
I did! hehe

With a $150 budget, I scooped up a new pair of skinny jeans from American Eagle, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and my MK ring. I had enough Sephora points for an extra goody so I got this Clinique Pore Refining Solutions serum. I applied it this morning and it made my face feel soooo soft! I can't wait to see how it works out, I'll be sure to let you know.
It's my man's birthday tonight so were heading out for dinner and a night on the town. Enjoy your weekend too!
