Diamond Candles Review and A Giveaway!!

Last week I came home to an exciting package waiting for me on the porch. A box from Diamond Candles with my Blue Lagoon candle inside. I couldn't wait to open it up and see if it actually smelled like the Blue Lagoon, I was there in Jamaica just a few weeks ago for my wedding. :)

Although it did not have the same scent of the Jamaican beach, it looked great and smells fabulous. Very similar to the smell of a blue AirHead, yes the candy. It's a very nice sweet scent that took over my house in the best way possible.
Have you heard of Diamond Candles before? I had seen a couple people mention them on Facebook and became instantly interested. I got even more excited about them when they contacted me to review one and give one away! Every Diamond Candle has a ring inside it valued between $10 and $5,000. And, another plus, their candles are All Natural Soy Candles so they will burn for a long time.

I couldn't wait to melt my surprise out! It had to burn for about two hours before I could see the foil wrapper peeking through. I immediately grabbed a utensil to pull it out with and investigate.
How cool!? I got this clear and red ring, it's pretty big for my little fingers but who cares. I just pulled a ring out of my candle! This was as exciting as picking up grab bags with Grandma when I was younger. :) Little surprises are a lovely pick me up, this would be a great gift for any woman in your life.
And guess what? Diamond Candles is letting me give one away to one of my lucky readers! Just use the Rafflecopter widget below to get your entries in. The winner will receive a code for the Diamond Candle of their choice!

Roche Bobois

I recently came across the modern furniture of Roche Bobois and instantly fell in love with the innumerable styling options these couches could take on. The industrial masculinity of their sofas are complimentary to the feminine infusions of color and texture applied by the stylist.
Roche Bobois
I am obsessed with this colorful wall piece! It does so much for this whole room with the softness of the weaved material and abstract designs. How about the shelving, open windows and and even the ottoman! I would love for this area to be my living room.

Elegance is all this space screams to me. I would not have thought that white would go so well with a creamy shade but this flows perfectly. The yin and yang of the contrasting couch colors is a very strong statement of his and hers.

I love the look of raw wood, so this open, low set up looks like one I'd be happy to have especially in a studio apartment in Asheville, North Carolina. The extra large letters are a cool idea I'd like to utilize too.

Man cave much? The rough iron steps and raw brick in this space meld nicely with the arm rests on this sofa.

What do you think of Phillipe Bouix's designs? Would you style them differently in your home?

Refreshing your Roost

Looking for a little change in your living area but not ready for a major purchase like a new couch or a time consuming paint job? It's amazing what a new set of throw pillows will do for your space.
All pillows are from Target and under $25 each!
Once you get some new pillows, go ahead and move around some of your home's decor too. Take some pieces from your bedroom and switch them out with items in the kitchen, living room, and vice versa. It's truly a breath of fresh air to have a bit of change in your home and mix things up.

Do you have any tips to refresh your roost on a budget?

Time to get Organized

One of my favorite things about organizing and cleaning up (my purses specifically) is finding money or forgotten gift cards left in old wallets. Can anyone say shopping spree?
Instead of giving you my current list of fashion wants, I'm going to focus on the organizing needs.
I've heard so much about The Container Store and I really need to get things situated in my kitchen.
Between my leaning tower of Tupperware, stacked glasses and overflowing spices I need to get my little cooking area under control!
Wine Rack ($29.99), Stacking Bamboo Shelves ($11.99), Double Stainless Steel Turntable ($25)
I went on a hunt for some organizers that will fit in my small galley kitchen and these were my favorites.

Do you have any favorite organizing tools for your kitchen?

surprise party

How great is this? Days after posting all of the open beam architecture, with the help of his mother we threw a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend at an A-Frame, oceanfront cottage with load bearing beams!

View walking up, he was very surprised when his friends greeted him inside.
View from the upstairs loft. The eclectic collection of glass and other items in the house made it a nice locale for our little shindig.
Birthday boy blowing out the candles. :)
I made these awesome puff pastry, nutella, and berry cookies, what a hit! (If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you already saw this picture.)  The boys of course all struck up a conversation about how thankful they are that Pinterest is now around.
There was a guest book there, with signatures as far back as 1951!
We got one shot together before heading to the beach to hunt for sharks teeth.

Everyone had a great time, about a dozen of his friends and their spouses were able to attend.  His actual Birthday is in early September so this was definitely a surprise.

Do you like surprise parties or would you rather throw them for someone else? I am personally a fan of throwing them for others.;)
