I fiiinally landed a job! After 3 months of being unemployed, applying to innumerable jobs and driving all over town for interviews, I have been able to secure a job. The place is about 10 minutes from the house too which is fabulous, as my last job was almost an hour, one way. :) I'll be an administrative assistant to the VP who is also a Buyer for the company, that is...in the easiest way to explain: like eBay but in the aeronautical world. I am excited to learn a lot of new things and expect this to be very interesting- in a good way of course. Oh, and get this, I get off at noon every Friday- Saah-weeet!
I'm so excited for this new job and the next chapter in my life, no more stinky insurance. I'll be involved with people who are looking forward to actually getting something from the money they spend with the company, not just 100 pages of an insurance policy that the law says they have to buy.
If you are looking for a job right now, my words of encouragement are just to keep trying. Something will turn up and work out for you. It is really hard out there, and I honestly didn't believe it was this bad until I was faced with being laid off and trying to find a job in my small-ish beach town. But it worked out for me and you will find something, just be positive and keep looking. People connections are the best thing, that was how I got this job and actually how I landed my last 2 jobs I had before too. It really has a lot to do with who you know, so network and try to meet people and make a good rapport for yourself with them. You never know who is going to have the connection you will need later.
On another note, while doing my morning perusing of the bloggers I follow I came across this recipe for Kale Chips from Delighted Momma. The first time I had kale chips was at a restaurant and I hadn't tried to find a way to cook them yet, other than trying to sautee them (definitely didn't work BTW). This recipe is so simple though and I know the man will love it. I might try it with spinach too.
I'll let you know how to kale chips go. Oh & wish me luck, my first day is Monday! :)
