I'm currently reading The Sweet Life in Paris, by David Lebovitz, an American chef who moved to Paris.
Dually noted in my previous post, I'm on a Paris kick and was looking for something to satisfy my needs for French everything! Reading through the reviews on multiple "french-inspired" novels I came across a review that sold this book to me. I'm only to page 35 right now, but it is certainly doing the trick. ;) However, I am craving dark chocolate, cheeses and wine like no other! I will definitely need to re-read this book after visiting Paris; there are constant referrals to things I'm sure will make more sense to someone who has at least laid their own eyes on the place and not photographs galore.
How divine does this rooftop sound though (dismissing the small size of his apartment) "..the most beautiful cooling rack in the world; my cookies cool with a view of the Eiffel Tower, overlooking the elegant place des Vosges. With the gentle breezes of Paris blowing." Uhm, AMAZING!!!!
In addition to the story line, seemingly his ventures in Paris, the author pops in French recipes into each chapter. I can't wait to try out the Salade de chevre chaud, aka Warm Goat Cheese Salad. Haha, it's amazing to me how elegant the French language makes everything sound. :)
He has a website too, with tons of recipes. So if you're not ready to invest the time in the whole book yet, check out his website and try a few yummies.
