Enlightening weekend

What a great, relaxing, enlightening weekend. I actually feel like I can breathe better today on this Monday morning in November.

Friday was a little scattered, my brain kind of got lost in the Friday excitement and I almost forgot entirely about an appointment I had! My scatter brain also had to do with the comments I had read on an article that were extremely disheartening. A local business was shut down for drugs, money laundering, etc., and the family's name is extremely common in their ethnicity. There's another family in town who has no close relation to them, but owns a prominent chain of businesses in North Florida who is being compared and presumed in relation to the prior. The comments being listed are racist and its incredibly disheartening that race is still such an issue today to some people. "When the lights are out, your all the same." Get over your ignorance and open up your eyes! How can there still be such stereotypical negativity towards a race in today's world? The other outrage is that the newspaper that published the article has made no moves to delete the comments being listed, yet an investigation about a young ladies death, over a month ago, who's boyfriend happens to be with the police force doesn't even get a blurb of an article!
"wooooo saaaaaahhhh"

Ugh, but onto the good part of my weekend...
Saturday began with a 10:00 yoga sesh with Lex. I hadn't been to a Yoga class in almost a month, and had only practice twice at my house. Man am I sore, again I can totally see how Yoga can help. Calms my brain from its quick thoughts a little bit, and the stretches were very much needed. Towards the end of the class, starting the total relaxation part of the class, I was blessed with a rose quartz crystal to help with my meditation. Lex placed one right where the 3rd eye is. I don't know if it was the coolness of the crystal helping me concentrate on the task at hand or if it was actually helping my heart Chakra. Regardless it was beneficial and after class I picked up a single rose quartz, the last one at a local store in town, Simple Gestures. This was another awesome experience, I had never been in this store in 6 years of living in St Augustine, it had such positive vibes and just heightened my mood to an even happier state. I also picked up some Patchoulli and Nag Champa Incense, and a beautiful green scarf with ohm symbols printed on it. Gorgeous. That evening following my afternoon wedding assistance to I Do Planning, D. and I ventured to Jacksonville for a silly movie, Due Date, and dinner at an all you can eat sushi restaurant. After our dinner we did a little browsing before the movie began. I found the most perfect green, rusticy Buddah head! Now I have another item for my own little sanctuary. I can't wait to get our guest room finished so I can turn it into a calming escape. :)

Sunday was another calming day, I almost skipped out on service at the Center for Spiritual Living, but ended up making it with Lex's encouragement. So glad she was there to not let me miss it. As always this was a great time, and I started a spiritual journal because of it. November is a month of gratitude so we were given a bookmark with about 20 ideas to write about that we are grateful for. I may share some of this at a later time. After the service we went to the ladies art happening and got some natural soaps and some local honey. I love local artists! And really need to get back into jewelry making again, but that will come too...

I'm currently reading 2 books: Autobiography of a Yogi, by Paramhansa Yogananda & The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Charles Johnston. The first sounded interesting, but the second was a recommendation from my Aunt Asha Moon (Eileen) who has been practicing and teaching yoga since the early 90's. I will have to write further on these in another blog.

On to work. Have a great day everyone!

Namaste.
